The Scouting program has a great deal to offer. It spawns skills; many of them life long and life saving. It is a year round
family program designed to strengthen character, personal fitness, family involvement and good citizenship.
We do this through many many means. Unfortunately, these means have costs. Great
costs.
We look at this as an investment. An investment in our community's (and society's
as a whole) future. Our youth is our future leaders.
While the national orginzation of The Boy Scouts of America receive commercial and
private donations directly, these amounts are decreasing in tough enconomic times
while costs are increasing. To offset this discrepancy, local councils are left
to raise money through fundaising efforts. Recognized efforts include but are not
limited to:
